The Winnipeg School Division (WSD) Board of Trustees has approved a plan to introduce three new bilingual language programs to the division.

The programs will be offered in Spanish, Cree and Ojibway.

The Board required a certain amount of students to be registered in each program before moving ahead with the plan.

The new bilingual programs will start in Kindergarten and move up a grade each year.

Issac Brock School will be hosting the Cree and Ojibway programs and Earl Grey School will be hosting the Spanish bilingual programs.

The WSD will now need to hire bilingual teachers and have Manitoba Education approve the curriculum.
