In just a few days, a Winnipeg woman will be heading to Rio for the Rio 2016 Games.

Jane Edstrom is not competing herself, she is and international track and field technical official.

“I sit and watch the Olympics faithfully, 18 hours a day, doesn’t matter if its summer or winter,” she said.

Out of 46 in the world, eight of them are women, and Edstrom is the only one from Canada headed to the Games.

Her job is to judge various track events, and she is one of only 10 people in the world who has that privilege.

Edstrom has been officiating for 36 years.

This will be her first Olympics.
