It happened during the final performance of the night, when a firework went straight into the crowd.

Thousands of screaming fans were enjoying the Chainsmokers performance at Sunday’s Summer of Sound concert when something went wrong.

An errant pyrotechnic, called a comet, ends up in the crowd hitting 22-year-old Nicole Van-Meer on the forehead.

"It burned my hair burned my scalp and now I have a really bad headache and my neck has been killing me," she said.

Van-Meer explained that she immediately left the crowd with her friends who helped find a first aid tent.

She said there was swelling on her forehead and she has a bald spot where the comet burned her hair.

Her friend Jesse Bougie was right there as it happened.

"All of a sudden this big flashing light came at us and we didn't know what happened, but it her in the head an got a few sparks on me," Bougie added.

The accident caused the group to desert the concert early to try and find organizers.

Meanwhile Van-Meer said she is now suffering from a concussion, but it could have been worse.

"Could you imagine if there was more than one, or if it had burned me severely, I could have lost my eyesight," Van-Meer said.

She explained that both Archangel, the company in charge of the fireworks show, along with Summer of Sound organizers have been in touch to see how she is recovering.

Archangel Fireworks also tells CTV it has notified its supplier and the product in question has been pulled from use.
