Winnipeggers gather for Take Back the Night event

For the 36th time, Winnipeggers came out for a Take Back the Night event.

Participants ralled Thursday around 7 p.m. at the Bell Tower on Selkirk Avenue before marching on.

The Take Back the Night protests started in 1979 to bring attention to violence against women.

Statistics show Manitoba has one of the highest per capita rates in Canada of violence against women.
