The city is looking to engage Winnipeggers in conversation through an online survey on banning smoking on patios at bars and restaurants.

The city said the survey will remain online until Sept. 26, and in addition they will be conducting a phone survey with 600 randomly selected Winnipeggers to measure public opinion.

On June 12 the city began to review regulated smoking practices on outdoor patios in other municipalities around Canada, that include, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, water pipes, hookahs, and other similar products/devices that produce second hand smoke.

Once the survey and the engagement process are complete, the city said a report will be provided with recommendations on how to regulate smoking on outdoor patios based on the public’s feedback and study from other municipalities.
