Movomber has taken over the month formerly known as November. The facial hair awareness campaign kicks off this week and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service staff are set to make a difference. Movembe's goal is to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues – specifically prostate cancer. Men start Movember clean shaven and grow a moustache for 30 days.

The official Winnipeg Blue Bomber vs Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Straight Razor Shave-Off is one of the campaigns set to raise awareness and funds. In full uniform, Movember Captain's, Chris Cvetovic, Long Snapper and Dan Thomas, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, will lead the event on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Confusion Corner Bar & Grill. The straight razor shave will ensure both teams begin the Movember competition clean shaven.

Last year, 3,300 participants took part in Winnipeg raising over $450,000. Globally, Movember brought in $75 million for its cause.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 7 men, yet is 90% curable if diagnosed and treated in its early stages, said officials.
