A woman was knocked unconscious and sexually assaulted at a bus stop on Friday.

The victim, in her mid-30s, was at the bus stop near the Disraeli Freeway and Sutherland Avenue around 5:30 p.m. when a lone male suspect came up from behind, assaulted her and knocked her out.

When she woke up, she was in the area of Rover Avenue and Disraeli Street. She had been sexually assaulted and robbed.

She was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Winnipeg police said there are no witnesses.

Police describe the suspect as fair-skinned, around six feet (183 centimetres) tall, with a thin athletic build, and in his 30s.
