A woman was dragged from her moving car while it was being stolen from the downtown area Monday night, police said.

The incident happened at around 6 p.m. in the 400 block of Furby Street.

Police said a woman in her mid-thirties left her vehicle running at the rear of her home. She returned a short time later to find a man in her vehicle attempting to flee.

Police said the woman tried to intervene, and was dragged a short distance before the suspect drove off.

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the woman had two small dogs in the vehicle, as well as personal items. Officers searched the area and found the stolen vehicle blocks away. The dogs were returned to the owner unharmed.

A man in his mid-twenties was arrested in connection with the incident. He faces charges of robbery, assault with a weapon and theft.
