The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is warning parents not to go down slides with their children in their laps.

Dr. Lynne Warda said children can catch their foot on the side of the slide, resulting in a fracture.

She said there have already been four cases of slide-related fractures amongst toddlers this year.

Dr. Warda said that if children are not old enough to go down the slide on their own, they shouldn't be sliding.

She said each play structure has age recommendations.

The structures are designed to cater to specific age groups, and she recommends parents follow those guidelines.

Dr. Warda couldn't give an exact number of slide-related fractures per year, but she estimates there are at least 12 annually.
