Zoo officials in Winnipeg said Hudson, a 15-month-old polar bear, will make his first public appearance on Feb. 14.

Hudson arrived in the city at the end of January from Toronto.

“He’s very relaxed in his new home and he certainly loves the snow and winter weather,” said Tim Sinclair-Smith, director of zoological operations at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. “Hudson is a wonderful addition to our Zoo family and we can’t wait for the community to meet him.”

The public will be able to see Hudson beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 14 at the International Polar Bear Conservation Centre at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Hudson will make his temporary home at the centre, before he becomes the first inhabitant of the zoo’s Journey to Churchill exhibit, slated to open in 2014.
