Winnipeg police said two women are in hospital after a pair of stabbings in the North End Tuesday night.

The first incident happened around 9:20 p.m. when emergency crews got a report of an injured woman in the 700 block of Manitoba Avenue.

A 52-year-old woman was found suffering from several upper body stab wounds. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition, police said.

Officers learned that she had been approached by a group of women, leading to an altercation.

She remains in hospital.

The second incident happened Tuesday around 10:40 p.m. when emergency crews arrived near Jarvis Avenue and Parr Street. 

A 42-year-old woman was found suffering from a single stab wound and had multiple lacerations and bruises, police said. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition.
