WINNIPEG -- The province reported 58 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba Sunday, the lowest number in almost two weeks.

Of the new infections, 25 are in Northern Health, 24 in Winnipeg, five in Southern Health and four in Interlake-Eastern, according to the COVID-19 bulletin.

For a second day in a row, there were no new infections in Prairie Mountain Health.

Cases have continued to trend downwards in much of the province.

The last time numbers were this low was February 8, when the Manitoba government identified 53 cases.

Public health officials announced the deaths of two Manitobans on Sunday.

A man in his 70s from Southern Health, whose case was linked to an outbreak at Heritage Life Personal Care home in Niverville, Man., along with a woman in her 80s from Winnipeg.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths in Manitoba is 884.

As of Sunday, there have been 31,386 infections in the province.

There were no new cases of COVID-19 variants identified over the weekend. 

The province had detected four cases of the UK variant in Manitoba.

They are all connected to international travel.

The current five-day test positivity rate is 5.3 per cent in the province and 4.1 per cent in Winnipeg. 

There are 208 people in hospital, with 31 in the ICU.
