Mounties have charged a Hells Angels associate with the shooting death of a rival gang leader.

RCMP in Thompson said Tuesday that Sean Michael Heickert is now charged with first degree murder in the case of the death of Bekim Zeneli in December, 2007.

RCMP say Zeneli is the co-founder of the LHS street gang (loyalty, honour, silence). He was shot dead inside his Thompson apartment on Dec. 7.

According to court documents, LHS had been involved in a turf war with the Hells Angels for control of the drug trade in Thompson.

Heickert, a Hells Angels Associate, was questioned and released shortly after the December shooting.

He is now in custody and is scheduled to appear in Thompson court at a later date.

Police say they may make more arrests as they continue to investigate.
