THANS calls for action after string of deaths from intimate partner violence

The Transition House Association of Nova Scotia says it wants the provincial government to take immediate action prioritizing women’s safety after the recent intimate partner violence deaths in the province.

The women’s group is holding a press conference today at a hotel in Dartmouth, N.S., to highlight what it calls an “urgent need” for stronger preventative measures against domestic violence.

Since October, police say six people have died at the hands of their partner in Nova Scotia.

The latest string of deaths started one month after the Nova Scotia government declared intimate partner violence an epidemic.
