Benefit social to help raise funds for Vita residents who lost homes in wildfires

Vita will host a benefit social at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17 with proceeds going to people whose homes burned in the community as a result of wildfires in October.

The social will be held at the Vita Hall and will feature a performance by The Rowdymen, along with a DJ and a silent auction.

The wildfires consumed four houses on Oct. 2 in the RM of Stuartburn community, south of Steinbach.

Tickets for the benefit social cost $10. Information is available by calling Destinie at 204-294-9578.

A trust account has also been set up and people can make cheques payable to "Vita Family Fire Fund" and send them to the Vita Credit Union, Box 88, Vita, Manitoba, R0A 2K0, said organizers.
