Serious health concerns are being raised regarding a Manitoba school. Leaders of the Berens River First Nation say its contaminated with asbestos, and they closed the more than 40-year-old school Monday.
They say there have been complaints of people feeling sick in the school for years. They’re accusing the Frontier School Division of keeping the problem a secret.
In a statement, the superintendent of the Frontier School Division said they haven't covered up information. He said an independent expert found, no health issues when air quality concerns were raised in 2010.
A company was hired to remove any asbestos or mould. Further testing is being done.
