A police dive team has recovered a vehicle with a body inside from the Red River near the Fort Garry Bridge.
Police confirm the red Hyundai Elantra is the same vehicle Hiren Patel was last seen driving. Patel, 31, was last seen Sunday in the East Kildonan area.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the body. They said an autopsy is required, which will also determine the cause of death.
Two tow trucks arrived on scene around 2:15 p.m. Friday.
Divers brought up a licence plate from under the water, then crews pulled a red vehicle from the river around 4:30 p.m.
Police said officers were first called to the scene around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday when passersby thought they saw something in the water.
Family and friends of Patel spent most of Thursday and Friday searching for him.
