A 35-year-old Winnipeg woman died in Gimli Saturday morning in a suspected drowning.
Gimli RCMP say a passer-by found the woman on the beach at the Spruce Sands Resort, just north of Gimli. She was partially in the water and was not breathing.
When police and EMS arrived on the scene civilians were already performing CPR. EMS crews continued resuscitation attempts while transporting the woman to hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say they are waiting for autopsy results to confirm the cause of death - but they suspect the woman drowned.
The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
