Winnipeg police have laid charges against a 14-year-old boy after an afternoon pepper-spray attack in the West Alexander area.

Police said a 14-year-old boy was walking near Toronto Street and Notre Dame Avenue Sunday afternoon when another boy his age approached him with pepper-spray. The suspect then robbed the boy and fled.

Officers on patrol in the area noticed the robbery in progress and pursued the suspect.

The boy has been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre and is now facing multiple charges.
