Like any eight year old, Katherine Bell goes to school to learn and play with her friends. But she says some days aren't as enjoyable as others.

"Pretty sad and scared too and that kind of stuff, at the same time, angry," she said.

Katherine 's parents say she's been punched, shoved, and kicked out of her chair in class, by an eight-year-old boy who's been bullying her since the start of the school year at Ecole Verannes in St. Vital.

"It's bullying on top of bullying. It's also physical assault," said Debbie Bell.

Debbie and Keith Bell say their daughter isn't the only target. They want the child removed from the class.

"This child was throwing things across the classroom including books, including chairs, to which the teacher instructed the kids to go into a corner and let him destroy a classroom," said Debbie Bell.

Another parent says his daughter was also bullied by the boy.

“Her arm was injured just a little bit, she was sent to office to keep icepack on her arm,” said Glavonjic Aleksander.

Emails from Katherine's teacher indicate the school is trying to curb the boy's behavior.

September 11:

"…the entire Ecole Varennes team, are working very hard to help this boy improve his behaviour. I'm hopeful that our interventions will soon bear fruit. I'm sorry Katherine was hurt."

September 17:

“We have made a number of adjustments to this boy's schedule to limit contact with other students while he is stressed."

The school division's superintendent Duane Brothers tells CTV a behavioural team is in place to observe and work with the students. Brothers says Winnipeg police even visited the class Thursday to speak with the children. Brothers says due to parents concerns they are pulling out all the stops to ensure the classroom is safe for all students.

The Bells feel the school and the division need to go one step further. They say it's time to expel the boy.

"Every day they say we're working on it we're working on it, I just hope it doesn't come to a point where an ambulance gets called," said Keith Bell.
