A Winnipeg man has been charged in an incident dating back to last fall where a stolen car crashed into a bus shelter in the Montcalm area.

Police said the incident happened in October of 2016. A 63-year-old man was waiting inside a bus shelter near Pembina Highway and Southpark Drive one night when a stolen vehicle crashed into the shelter.

Officers said the man was seriously hurt in the collision.

The Winnipeg Police Stolen Auto Unit launched an investigation.

On Aug. 10, Billy Boy Young, 21, was charged with a number of offences, including causing bodily harm by criminal negligence and failure to comply with a probation order.

He was detained in police custody.
