An arrest has been made after a suspect tried to lure a child at a downtown park in Winnipeg.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Central Park.

A woman and her five-year-old son had been at the park. A suspect tried to lure the boy away, but a lifeguard intervened and the man left the area, said police.

The child was not injured.

On Aug. 19, officers located and arrested a suspect in the case.

Tyrone Olawemi Abdul Tijani-Mazur, 23, of Winnipeg faces charges for abduction of a person under 14, possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with a probation order, said police.
