City of Winnipeg officials said 11 Christmas tree recycling depots have opened up and will operate until Jan. 20, 2013.
Officials said people should remove all tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, and tree stands.
Residents can also help themselves to free wood chips at the depots in early January. People should bring their own containers.
Trees placed by garbage or recycling carts will not be collected, said the city.
More information on the depots is available on the city's website and people can also call 311 for more information on the tree depots.
