Winnipeggers can expect to pay more for their homes in 2013.

Newly minted City Finance Chair Russ Wyatt says the city is planning to implement a modest property tax hike next year.

Wyatt says the increase is needed to offset inflation pressures and pay for crumbling infrastructure and services.

The city raised property taxes in 2012 for the first time in 13 years,  with an increase of 3.5 per cent.

Wyatt says the city is also considering combining the operating and capital budgets, which could be tabled as early as January.
