Crash on Chief Peguis Trail leaves pedestrian dead

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night on Chief Peguis Trail.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the collision took place at 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Chief Peguis Trail and Gateway Road.

A 34-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she died from her injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, remained at the scene, police said.

The traffic unit is investigating.
