Commuters who rely on the Disraeli Bridge will have to find an alternate route this weekend.

All northbound and southbound lanes on the bridge will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 to 6 a.m. Monday morning.

City officials said the closure was to allow for new concrete to be poured and for construction on the first phase of a pedestrian overpass.

The bridge will remain open to pedestrian traffic, but motorists are being asked to find alternate routes.

The Redwood Bridge, Provencher Bridge and Louise Bridge were suggested as alternatives by city officials.

City buses will also be rerouted around the bridge.
