A man faces multiple charges after allegedly almost running over a police officer and driving off at a dangerous speed.

Members of the East District Patrol were doing a traffic stop in the area of Beaverhill Boulevard and Edgewater Drive when they noticed a black SUV driving a fast speed. Police said the SUV accelerated towards one of the officers standing on the road, who was forced to jump out of the way.

The SUV then sped off, police said. When officers stopped the SUV in the area of Lonergan Place, the driver allegedly tried to attack them.

The officers concluded that the driver was drunk and arrested him.

Kyle Randolph Klym, 24, faces multiple assault and traffic-related charges. He is being held at the Provincial Remand Centre.
