Winnipeg police have laid sexual assault charges against a private driving school instructor.

Between June and July 2008, a 28-year-old woman had been taking lessons from a male instructor with a private driving school.

Police said on four separate occasions the woman was inappropriately touched during lessons on driving techniques, such as driving in reverse or parallel parking.

In June 2011, a 16-year-old girl received three lessons from the same instructor. Police said the girl was inappropriately touched in a similar way.

Reports were made, but charges were not pursued, said police.

In January 2014, an 18-year-old woman encountered the same instructor and a report of inappropriate touched was submitted to police.

Jasbir Brar, 56, of Winnipeg was charged on Jan. 23 with sexual assault, said police.

On March 4, he was arrested again and charged with two other counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation, said police.

The sex crimes unit continues to investigate.
