Eight face charges for second-degree murder for death of inmate

A total of eight people face charges for second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 21-year-old inmate earlier this week.

RCMP and emergency crews were called to the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre around 9:30 a.m. on May 16.

The 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the since. An autopsy has determined the victim died of blunt-force trauma, said RCMP.

Officers identified the victim as Tyler St. Paul, originally from Lake Manitoba First Nation.

Facing charges for second-degree murder are:

Emile Hugh Willams, 22

Eriberto Alexander Soldat, 18

Eric Edward Plante, 20,

Joey Richard Delaronde, 25

Daniel Christopher Dumas, 19

Nathan Florian Allard, 19

Brent Edward Houle, 18

A 17-year-old male also has also been charged.

RCMP said all the suspects were inmates at Milner Ridge at the time and are reported to have gang connections.
