A fire forced people living in a Sherbrook Street apartment building out of their homes Friday night.

Just after 9:30 p.m., fire crews rushed to a three-storey apartment building in the 500 block of Sherbrook.

About a dozen people could be seen huddling outside the building while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

Fire officials estimated the damage to the building at $50,000.

Officials said the blaze started in a basement suite, but they are still trying to determine what sparked it.
