The cold weather continues to cause headaches for air travelers as dozens of flights have been cancelled or delayed Wednesday morning.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled across the country Tuesday due to cold weather in Toronto, meaning people stranded in Winnipeg could not catch their connecting flights.

Larry Friesen was supposed to be enjoying a break from the cold.

“We thought we'd be at the beach late this afternoon,” he said. “But no. There are things out of our control."

Although the temperatures are slowly going up in Toronto, flights are still being cancelled or delayed again.

Ron Pradinuk from Journeys Travel said flight changes create a snowball effect.

“You’ve got one back-up, that leads to a second back-up, which leads to a third, which leads to the kind of total chaos that we have right now."

Anyone flying is advised to check on-line or by phone to confirm that their flight is operating before going to the airport.
