The Winnipeg Football Club says the former chairman of the board, Ken Hildahl, passed away suddenly on Friday.

Hildahl sat on the Blue Bombers Board of Directors for 10 years and was the chairman for five of those years.

"It is with extremely heavy hearts that we must pass along the news of Ken's passing," said Blue Bomber President, Jim Bell. "Ken had very strong ties to the Blue Bomber family, and was a truly dedicated and committed individual who poured his heart and sole into this organization. We would like to express our sincere sympathies to the Hildahl family, our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. This is another major loss for our organization and a very sad day for everybody involved with the Winnipeg Football Club."

This is the second loss for the Bombers in a month. Assistant head coach Richard Harris died of a heart attack on July 26.
