A Winnipeg development organization has named a former MLA as its new CEO.

On Monday, CentreVenture Development Corp. announced that Rochelle Squires will take over as CEO starting on Jan. 2.

Squires represented the Riel riding from 2016 to 2023, during which time she held a number of key positions including minister of municipal relations, minister of families and minister of sustainable development.

According to a news release from CenreVenture, Squires’ background will benefit the agency in its collaboration with government and help to advance the mayor’s housing goals.
