The doors are locked and the homemade sign says closed for inventory, but much of that inventory was being loaded on trucks earlier this week.

It has Penthouse Furniture customers wondering what has happened to the furniture they ordered.

Steven Sankar thought he was getting a deal when he bought $2400 worth of furniture at the stores going out of business sale, but now wonders if he'll ever see his purchase.

He says he received a call from Penthouse on Wednesday saying he wouldn't be getting his order.

"I feel Ripped off; I mean they did a hell of a job advertising for this closing out sale. I was by on Saturday again and everything looked like it was sold inside, but nothing was packed up to go," said a frustrated Sankar.

He's not the only one wondering what's happening with their purchase. Wanda Tripunovic stopped by the Princess Street store to see what has become of the dining room set she purchased.

"We will be eating Christmas dinner on the floor or in the kitchen and that's no fun" said Wanda Tripunovic, who says she paid cash last week and had apprehensions at the time.

"My question was to the girl at the counter. Is there any problem? When are you closing your doors? And she said oh no not for a while."

"The company that owns Penthouse is called Nefco. It also owns Furniture Galleria and Leather Express.

CTV News has been trying to contact Nefco for days, but our calls have not been returned.

Furniture Galleria has a recorded phone message that says "Furniture Galleria is now closed. Outstanding orders will be fulfilled by our parent company Nefco.

Leather Express had the same message.

Those that purchased furniture and haven't gotten it yet can only hope the messages ring true.

"I feel bad for everybody else who's purchased furniture. Let's see what we can do to get our money back," says Steven Sankar who's resigned to the fact he may be out $2400.
