Betty-Ann Sanderson’s granddaughter Simone was found murdered last September in Winnipeg. No one has been charged.

“The only time I’m going to have any peace is when they find (her) killer,” said Betty-Ann.

She said Simone, 23, wanted to return to school. Simone was also fighting with the department of child and family services to regain custody of her young son, said Betty-Ann.

Simone’s body was found underneath a piece of cardboard in a parking lot at Main Street and Burrows Avenue.

Winnipeg police are also hoping for help in the case.

“The investigation is still ongoing. We’re still making every effort to learn more about what took place,” said Const. Jason Michalyshen from Winnipeg police.

Betty-Ann wants people to know she lives with the pain of losing her granddaughter every day.

“How do you think I feel? Of course my heart shatters,” she said.

Betty-Ann said she hopes anyone with information comes forward.

Simone was reported missing a few days before her body was discovered.
