Every homeowner knows eventually you'll need to make some repairs and if you've had to make some, you know how costly it can be.

But it doesn't have to be.

A new project is now underway to make home repair more affordable.

The Habitat Handyman Project is a new idea from Habitat for Humanity.

The idea is to provide affordable repairs to anyone in need, especially seniors and low-income families.

"My job is to do the work with volunteers and help keep the costs down, on the jobs that others really aren't interested in doing," said Habitat handyman Jim Gnidzie.

Profits from the project will be re-invested.

"It will be going into the pool of capital that we use to build homes for our partner families," said Habitat for Humanity CEO Sandy Hopkins. "So, this is going to expand our ability to help more families break the cycle of poverty."

The Habitat Handyman Project had a soft launch in December of last year.

They've done a few jobs already, and they've gone well.

Now Habitat is ready to take on more clients.
