A ceramic heater caused the fire that destroyed a home and killed a 48-year-old woman in Stonewall on Monday.

The fire broke out just around 7:00 a.m. Monday morning.

RCMP say an autopsy has determined the woman died of smoke inhalation.

Her name has not been released at the request of her spouse who is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire commissioner's office say the blaze was started by a ceramic heater coming into contact with combustible materials.

The house was totally destroyed.
