At approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Manigotagan North Star Hotel burned to the ground.

The log hotel is considered a historical landmark to those who live in Manigotagan, located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg, north of Powerview-Pine Falls.

Marilyn McNish lives across the street from the hotel.

She said firefighters were still on scene Wednesday morning putting out hotspots.

McNish said the hotel has been there for decades. She said it was moved from Long Lake many years ago, log by log to its current location.

“Although it has been empty for 3 years, it will be missed by the local and summer residents,” McNish told CTV.

RCMP said the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
