How Manitobans can save money on travel in 2025
If travel is on your to-do list for 2025, you might want to plan ahead and budget more money than you may expect.
Not only are travel prices expected to rise, but new travel documents are also required for certain destinations.
“I don’t want to be a downer here, but if anyone hasn’t travelled in the last few years, you’re probably going to see a lot of sticker shock, especially for flights and hotels, to me, have skyrocketed,” said travel expert Barry Choi in an interview with CTV News Winnipeg on Wednesday.
To try to lower these costs, Choi recommends planning things out as far in advance as possible. He also suggested being flexible when it comes to flight times and days.
“For flights, prices are always priced out dynamically,” he said.
“So if you can fly out on a Tuesday through Thursday as opposed to Friday through Monday, you’ll probably see a little bit of savings.”
In terms of hotels, Choi said it’s best to book as early as possible as most hotels are fully refundable.
“Then maybe once a month or closer to your dates of travel, check again to see if there’s a better price and just rebook right away,” he said.
