A Headingley family battling to have their daughter’s medical costs covered by insurance says they have received good news.

26-year-old Emelia Grobler was seriously injured when she was ejected from a boat while on vacation in South Africa.

Her family says health care costs could be up to $50-thousand.

They thought they were all covered before leaving for vacation but when they called their insurance company after the accident, they were told Grobler exceeded the age to qualify for the family plan.

Now, the family tells CTV News that BMO along with Global Allianz and Manitoba Health will cover the costs.

Grobler continues to recover in South Africa and plans to return to Manitoba later this month.
