A man allegedly stabbed his wife repeatedly in the face with a screwdriver during a domestic dispute Saturday morning in Mitchell, RCMP say.
Investigators believe it happened in front of the couple's children in their bedroom.
At about 8 a.m. Steinbach RCMP received a call about a woman who had just fled her home with her children after being stabbed.
Emergency crews rushed the woman to hospital where she was treated for severe head trauma.
Meanwhile officers arrested 33-year-old David Reddekopp at his residence and charged him with aggravated assault.
He is set to appear in court in Winnipeg Monday.
The investigation is continuing.
