Two people shot, one assaulted during Brantford robbery

Brantford Police Service are investigating after two people were shot and another person was assaulted during a robbery. CTV's Krista Simpson reports.

Brantford Police have arrested one person, and are looking for at least one other suspect, as they investigate a robbery in the city.

Officers were called the area of Colborne Street and Alfred Street, around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, where they learned two people were shot and a third had been assaulted.

Police said the three victims had serious injuries.

“The victims have been transported to hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition at this time,” Brantford Police Service Const. Alex Guerra said in an interview Wednesday night.

Police said they had one male suspect in custody and officers, as well as a canine unit, continued to search the neighbourhood.

They advised the public to stay away from the area during the investigation.

While police did not say where the robbery happened, cruisers and police tape surrounded a pawn shop called Downtown Pawnbrokers.
