WINNIPEG -- Manitoba Health officials added more facilities to its list of care homes and hospitals with COVID-19 outbreaks.

On Thursday, Oct. 29, the province announced it has declared outbreaks at KeKiNan Centre Inc., an assisted-living facility in Winnipeg; as well as the medicine unit at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, Man.

The province noted that all units and facilities have been moved to the critical or red level on its pandemic response system.

A representative from KeKiNan Centre would not confirm the number of cases, but said they are waiting on some additional testing. The facility is working with public health and following all the protocols that have been set out by the province.

On Thursday Revera, a company that runs several care homes across the country, provided an update on the Parkview Place Long Term Care Home.

The company said there are currently 26 active cases of COVID-19 and 61 cases have been resolved among the residents.

"There are 14 active staff cases and 15 resolved. Staff who are positive are currently self-isolating at home and most of staff whose cases have resolved have returned to work," the company said in a statement.

Revera said they are working on cohorting the 26 positive residents on two floors so they are separated from the residents who have tested negative.

The company also provided an update on the Maples Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.

It said surveillance testing has finished and 96 residents have tested positive while 34 residents tested negative. Of those residents who tested positive, only five are showing symptoms, Revera said.

It also confirmed that 14 staff had tested positive and are self-isolating. The care home is still waiting for the results of 71 resident tests and 16 staff.

"We are working closely with Winnipeg Regional Health Authority officials to maintain pandemic outbreak protocols and infection control practices."
