A routine practice made a local minor hockey team feel like it won the Stanley Cup Tuesday night.

The 9-A-1 Fort Garry Reds got a surprise when Lord Stanley's mug showed up at the MTS Ice Plex. Scotiabank sponsors the team and the bank chose the Reds for Tuesday’s visit, based on its volunteer work.

The players had no idea until they walked into the locker room.

"For a sec I just thought we were going to have like a regular meeting, like about practice, but then when I looked I was like, ‘omg, the Stanley Cup!" said Aaron Woo.

After the cup's initial appearance, the players practiced, or at least tried to, before they got up close and personal with the trophy at a party later that evening.
