Jon Waluk, the man convicted of killing a Winnipeg mother and her two young children on Christmas Eve more than 20 years ago, is back behind bars.

The National Parole Board decided to revoke full parole for Waluk, 60, after he failed to appear in court on charges of illegal tobacco possession, according to documents obtained by CTV News.

"Although these are only allegations at this point, the Board considers these new charges as reliable and compelling information that your risk has escalated in the community," the board said in a written decision dated Aug. 19.

Waluk was scheduled to appear in court on August 6 and August 10 on illegal tobacco possession charges laid by RCMP on May 28, 2009.

Police allege the man possessed 13 cases of unstamped cigarettes.

Waluk was convicted of second-degree murder for the Dec. 24, 1987 killing of a mother and her two young children by repeatedly shooting them at point blank range. He was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol at the time, parole board documents say.

Over the years, Waluk has insisted he is innocent, maintaining his co-accused did the shooting.

Waluk was released on day parole on Sept. 18, 2007 and he was granted full parole on April 25, 2008.

Another court appearance for Waluk has been scheduled for Sept. 14.
