A man in custody at a Manitoba jail is charged with trying to arrange a murder on the outside.

Benjamin Joseph Goodine, 23, is being held at the Dauphin Correctional Centre.

He was arrested after a drug trafficking investigation was launched in July.

Officers received information in late September that Goodine had contacted an associate in an attempt to convince him to kill a 21-year-old man in connection to the drug investigation, said RCMP.

Goodine has been charged with counsel to commit murder, said RCMP.
