A 21-year-old man has turned himself in after a stabbing on a Winnipeg Transit bus Saturday night.

Just after 7 p.m. two 20-year-old men were on a bus going east down Portage Avenue when another man got on the bus and approached them, police said.

A fight broke out on the bus and one of the 20-year-old men was stabbed. The other tried to intervene in the fight and the suspect fled from the bus, police said.

The other two men also fled the area and went to a nearby home.

Officers said they believe the victim and the man who stabbed him know each other, and the fight was a result of an on-going dispute between the two.

A 21-year-old man is now facing multiple charges including assault with a weapon.

The 20-year-old man who was stabbed is now in stable condition and is also facing charges in relation to breach conditions of his sentence order.
