Winnipeg Transit riders may be hopping on electric buses this summer.

A battery-electric shuttle bus currently takes Manitoba Hydro employees from their Taylor Avenue office to downtown.

Hydro is helping test the technology for possible future use in the city. They're looking to see how the bus performs in extreme weather conditions.

"Winnipeg Transit has not received any electric buses yet," City of Winnipeg spokesperson Michelle Finley said in an email. " A delivery date has not been confirmed. We anticipate the buses will arrive sometime this summer."
