VIRDEN, Man. - Manitoba RCMP say they are investigating the homicide of a two-month old baby girl near the Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation.
Mounties from Virden were called to the reserve west of Brandon on Jan. 4 when an infant was taken to a Winnipeg hospital in critical condition.
Sgt. Bert Paquet says the girl died on Saturday.
He says the investigation so far has determined that other children in the community are not at risk.
Paquet called the baby's death "the saddest of tragedies for the community and all Manitobans."
