Manitoba's gas tax holiday coming to an end

Share

Manitoba’s gas tax holiday is officially coming to an end.

Beginning Wednesday, the gas tax will return but will include a 10 per cent discount.

The Manitoba government suspended the 14-cent-a-litre gas tax at the start of 2024 and ended up extending it throughout the year.

Though the fuel tax break is ending, the price at the pump will still be reduced.

Premier Wab Kinew recently announced the province is making a permanent 10 per cent cut to the gas tax, which will give drivers roughly 1.4 cents off per litre. This means motorists will see a gas tax of 12.5 cents a litre as of Wednesday.
